(commonly referred to as Shin15958 ) is a notorious lost media mystery and "screamer" video that originated on the Japanese message board 2channel (now 5channel) in the early-to-mid 2000s . It is often cited alongside other early internet urban legends like Smile Dog or The Grifter due to its alleged disturbing content and the difficulty of finding the original file today. Origins and Context

The video typically begins with very quiet audio or a still, mundane image (often a landscape or a room) to encourage the viewer to turn up their volume and lean closer to the screen.

After several seconds of silence, a distorted, high-pitched scream plays alongside a flashing, gruesome image.

In some versions of the legend, the file was actually a Trojan horse or virus that would crash the user's OS after the screamer played.
