The story begins with young Barney Gumble (standing in for Georgie) being lured into a sewer and killed by Krusto , a terrifying, shape-shifting clown version of Krusty. A group of social misfits dubbed "The Losers" —Homer, Marge, Moe, Carl, and Comic Book Guy—band together to stop the killings. During their mission, Comic Book Guy deceitfully takes credit for a love poem Homer wrote for Marge. The group manages to defeat Krusto using slapstick comedy—his true weakness—and they make a pact to return if he ever resurfaces.
