Focuses on the immediate biological needs—shelter, fire, water, and food—in diverse climates ranging from arctic tundras to tropical jungles.

This is perhaps the most mentally taxing phase. It prepares individuals to withstand interrogation, exploitation, and psychological pressure while maintaining their integrity and following a strict Code of Conduct .

The resistance portion of the training is designed to break a person down to show them their limits. Instructors use controlled stress environments to simulate the disorientation and exhaustion of captivity. The goal is not to create "super-soldiers" who never break, but to teach individuals how to manage their reactions, delay the release of information, and keep their mental focus under extreme duress.
