: Marisa's power and physical scale are measured in "head proportions." By eating various mushrooms found throughout her journey, she can grow from a tiny 2-heads-tall form back up to a massive 8-heads-tall size.

The story of follows the ordinary magician Marisa Kirisame after a magical experiment goes awry. While tinkering with "dubious mushroom magic," she accidentally eats a peculiar mushroom that suppresses her magical powers and shrinks her body until she is only two heads tall.

: At the end of each world, Marisa must defeat a large boss guarding one of the essential golden mushrooms.
